Town Board Meeting  -  March 8, 2018


The Middle Inlet Town Board Meeting of March 8, 2018, was Called to
Order by Chairperson Wade at 7:30 P.M.

Roll Call indicated Supervisors Van and Wenzel and Clerk/Treasurer
Stanek were present. 

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited.

Motion to Approve the Agenda made by Van and seconded by Wenzel. 
Motion carried.
(3 to 0)

The Minutes of the previous Town Board Meeting of February 8, 2018,
and the were presented and Approved on a Motion by Wenzel and seconded
by Van.  Motion carried.  (3 to 0)

The extra February, 2018, Vouchers representing total disbursements of
 $761,564.39, were presented. Stanek advised the Board that the
February Tax Settlement was included in this total.  In addition, the
March, 2018, Vouchers representing total disbursements of  $26,321.52
were presented. Motion to Approve made by Van and seconded by Wenzel. 
Motion carried.  (3 to 0)

COMMUNICATIONS:  

An “Agreement” document to extend the LIFE JACKET LOANER BOARD Program
was received from the DNR. The original agreement expired December 31,
2017, therefore the agreement is to be extended and directed by the
Board.

REPORTS:

Roads:

Wade presented a brief report regarding winter maintenance. He
indicated he would be meeting with a DNR representative regarding
replacement of the bridge on CAMP 5 ROAD.  The seasonal weight
restrictions went into effect at 12:00 Noon, March 5, 2018.

Planning Commission:           N/R

Fire Department:   	

Chief Johnston presented a brief report regarding recent calls – Feb.
20/Veicular accident;  Feb. 22/Structure fire;  Mar. 2/Drowning on
Lake Noquebay. 

Garbage / Recycling: 
             
The Northwoods Recycling Coalition held a workshop with
representatives from the DNR  on February 21, 2018, at the Stephenson
Town Hall.

The meeting of April 2, 2018, at the Middle Inlet Town Hall has been
rescheduled due to the Spring Election on April 3rd.  The next meeting
will be held at 6:00 P.M. on April 9th. 
at the Stephenson Town Hall.

Legal council will arrange to meet with Town Clerk/Treasurer Stanek to
develop compliance actions regarding the ELLIS LANE properties.

Stanek reviewed the process for the development of a referendum to be
placed on the ballot at the November 6, 2018, General Election.  The
referendum would be for consideration for the appointment of the
position of Clerk/Treasurer.  The Town Board would have to pass a
resolution to enact/amend Ordinance 160  -  “Appointment of Town
Clerk/Treasurer.  Said resolution will be part of the Agenda for the
April, 2018, Town Board Meeting.

 Public comment and a lengthily discussion followed regarding the
hazard of  ice conditions on Lake Noquebay in the area of the Middle
Inlet Creek discharge.  This area resulted in a recent drowning, and
has a history of unstable ice conditions.  Numerous suggestions were
made as to methods to prevent these tragedies.  The Lake Noquebay
Rehab District and the Marinette Co. may be contacted to discuss the
matter.

There being no further business before the Board, Wade requested a
Motion to Adjourn.  Motion made by Van and seconded by Wenzel.  Motion
carried  (3 to 0), and Meeting   Adjourned at 8:00 P.M.
