Town Board Meeting  -  January 12, 2017


The Middle Inlet Town Board Meeting of January 12, 2017, was Called to
Order by Chairperson Wade at 7:30 P.M.

Roll Call indicated Supervisors Magerowski and Van and Clerk/Treasurer
Stanek were present.

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited.

 Motion to Approve the Agenda made by Magerowski and seconded by Van. 
Motion  carried.  (3 to 0)

The Minutes of the previous Town Board Meeting of December 8, 2016,
were presented and Approved on a Motion by Van and seconded by
Magerowski.  Motion carried.  (3 to 0)

The January 2017, Vouchers representing total disbursements of 
$337,833.32, were presented. These included the January 2017 Tax
Settlements.  Motion to Approve made by Van and seconded by
Magerowski.  Motion carried.  (3 to 0

COMMUNICATIONS:                   

Stanek reported meeting with the Assessor to complete the calculations
for the Mobile Home Fees.  The Assessor plans to attend the February,
2017, Town Board Meeting to advise the Board of the current Major
Class Comparisons regarding the most current report from the Wisconsin
Dept. of Revenue.

Stanek reported the receipt of a $200.00 Donation for the Fire Dept.
from THOMAS & EVERETT BELL.  A “THANK YOU” letter was sent on behalf
of the Town.

REPORTS:

Roads:

Wade reported a significant cleanup of downed trees following a recent
wind storm.  The public that assisted and Northeast Tree Service was
commended for their efforts.  STOP signs were replaced on BIERNASZ RD.
AND TRUDGION RD.

Wade questioned the status of reimbursement for culvert
damage/replacement on RAVEN RD.  Stanek indicated that there has been
no reimbursement to date.  A follow-up letter will be sent to involved
party.
Roads:  (Continuation)

The sand/salt supply is available behind the Fire Station (OLD TOWN
RD. 37)

The snow plowing contractor (ROAD KING EXCAVATING) was available to
field any comments or questions.  The overall opinions expressed
indicated excellent comments.


Planning Commission:                                No Report

Fire Department:    

Fire Chief JOHN CODDINGTON reported on recent Dept. calls.

He expressed concern regarding the Department’s involvement in the
recent “Santa Workshop” of December 10, 2016.  The Dept. assisted and
provided food/beverages as part of a fund raising effort.  However,
certain parties brought in “free” food and refreshments.  As a result,
the Dept. incurred a net loss of $86.88.  Future activities must be
planned accordingly.

Coddington indicated that (2) Santa suits were recently purchased.
                           
Garbage / Recycling:                               No Report

Town Hall:  

Magerowski reported that the past rodent problem appears to have been
resolved, however, a follow-up treatment by the pest control firm is
scheduled.                                             

Cemetery:

A question was addressed regarding the burial of ashes.  This practice
is permitted.

The JOHN R. MAEDKE property (W7586 SWEETHEART CITY RD.), and  the
THOMAS MALCHOW maintenance issue of same, has proceeded via compliance
action thru Circuit Court to obtain a Default Judgment.

A Summons / Complaint has been filed in Circuit Court regarding
criminal damage to Town property at the North Shore Boat Landing.

A brief discussion was directed toward the statutory process to have
the office of Clerk/Treasurer to be appointed rather than be an
elected position.  The creation of a Deputy Clerk/Treasurer position
was also reviewed.

There being no further business before the Board, Wade requested a
Motion to Adjourn.  Motion made by Magerowski and seconded by Van. 
Motion carried (3 to 0) and Meeting was Adjourned at 8:00 P.M.
